In what could only be described as a brilliant performance, Scott Branch went the distance and did not give up an earned run to the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers in a game played in Lexington yesterday afternoon.  He only faced 31 batters, gave up 6 scattered hits, struck out 6 batters and  walked 3 batters while totalling around 92 pitches. He did a good job of keeping the batters he faced off balance by changing speeds on his pitches.
The Cats scored 7 of their runs in the bottom of the 3rd on hits by Branch (1), Adam Sandridge (1), Jonathan Wilson (1) and Casey Saunders (2) who got the Cats' only extra base hit, a double, of the game. Branch drove in another run in the bottom of the 6th.  Nick Ramsey went three for four for the game.
The defense was once again very sharp with fine plays all around.  The only run by the Cavaliers was unearned in the top of the 3rd inning when they lead for the only time in the game.
