Josh Kibler made his first start of the 2001
season in the second game of the double header at Covington's Casey Field.  He went 3 innings and gave up only 1 run on a hard hit single to left in the 2nd inning.  Josh recorded 6 strikeouts and gave up only 2 hits and hit one batter.  He was relieved in the top of the 4th by Scott Branch who delivered another good performance by retiring all three batters he faced. The Cats got on the boards with 4 runs in the top of the first on a triple by Jonathan Wilson scoring Nick RamseyWilson then scored on a wild pitch and Joe Vita drove in 2 runs with a double to the gap in left center field driving in Casey Saunders and Kevin Burant.
They came back in the bottom of the 3rd inning and scored 2 more as Kevin Burant drove in Wilson with a grounder to short and Vita delivered his 3rd RBI of the night with a single to right bringing in Casey Saunders.
Wilson drove in Ramsey on a single up the middle after Branch came in from 3rd on a wild pitch.
Once again the Cats played good defense and didn't record an error in either game.
Catcher Bobby Simons threw a batter out at first on a dropped 3rd strike in the first and Vita made a diving stop of a slow grounder on the 1B side of the infield and threw to first while sitting down to record the out in the 3rd inning.  Kevin Burant made a dive while running in on a blooper hit to right in the fourth inning.  He managed to snow cone the ball at the tip of his glove.  The umpires looked like they didn't believe it until he stood up and held up his glove.
