CATS
& SANDRIDGE DO IT AGAIN!
The Wildcats are HOT! They've won all 3 of their games this week and 4 out of their last
5 games to bring their record to 8-6-1 and their District record to 5-6.
They appear to be tied for 3rd place with William Byrd in the standings.
Once again Adam Sandridge came
through for his team again with another great pitching performance. He went
the distance and allowed only 2 earned runs on 3 hits and 3 walks to avenge an early
season 2-1 loss to the Blue Deamons.
Rockbridge jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning when Brandon Zollman
got on base with a walk, stole 2B and drew a wild throw from the catcher while trying to
steal 3B. Brandon scored the Cat's first run and was followed by Adrian
Watts who was brought home on a sac fly by Scott Branch.
Christiansburg scored 2 runs in the top of the 4th as one batter got on base on an error
followed by a walk to the next batter. The effect of the error was erased when Jonathan
Wilson tagged out the runner on first ina run down. The next batter walked
and was followed by a single which scored 2 runs. It looked as if Sandridge
was starting to loose his control. The Cats managed to go ahead for good in the
bottom of the 4th. Watts led off with a walk but was thrown out trying to
steal 2B. With 2 out, Sandridge doubled to left. Pinch
runner, Kevin Burant, was driven home on a single by Jonathan
Wilson, who went 2-3 on the afternoon. Sandridge came back
out in the top of the 5th and retired the side in order. He did the same thing in
the 6th and only faced 4 batters in the 7th when he gave up his 3rd hit of the game.
It seemed that he got stronger as the game went on.
Clearly, he was pumped as was the whole team.
Next Victim......................William Byrd H.S.
on Friday!
