The Blacksburg Indians came to town on a cold and windy evening and the Wildcats were eager to get their first Blue Ridge District win.
Scott Branch started on the mound for the Cats and went 5 innings (78 pitches)  giving up 7 runs (1 unearned) on 8 hits including a two run home run in the top of the 6th before bring replaced by Adam Sandridge who managed to get out of the 6th without letting up a run.
He was replaced in the top of the 7th, after hitting a batter and yielding a walk (30 pitches), by Brandon Zollman who retired the side after a walk to his first batter.
The Cats scored their 1st run in the bottom of the 2nd when lefty batting Sandridge drove in Adrian Watts with a double to left. They scored again in the 3rd when Watts made it safely to 1B and drove in Kevin Burant, running for Branch, on a grounder to 2B and a bad throw to 1B.
The score remained at 7-2 until the bottom of the 7th when Rockbridge collected 4 runs.  An error by Blacksburg's third baseman put Casey Saunders on 1B.  Nick Ramsey singled and Zollman walked to load the bases.  Watts came through again, as he has all season, with a bases clearing triple to the gap in right center field.  Sandridge drove in Watts on a grounder to 2B but the rally stopped there and the Cats came up one run short.
Sandridge (2) and Watts (4) drove in all of the Wildcats' runs.
Once again, Rockbridge played very well in the field by converting 17 opportunities into outs and making 3 errors.
